“The Three-Body Problem,” a novel by Liu Cixin, is the inaugural book in the “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” trilogy. The narrative commences during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, focusing on Ye Wenjie, who experiences her father’s brutal death due to his supposed anti-Communist views. She later becomes part of a covert military operation at the Red Coast base.
Fast forward to four decades later, the story introduces Wang Miao, a nanomaterials expert. He becomes part of a clandestine group, the Frontiers of Science, and discovers an impending external threat linked to a series of unexplained suicides among scientists.
