Thanksgiving and the Art of Gratitude: Deals, Music, and a Toast to the Heroes

Thanksgiving began in 1621, celebrated by the Pilgrims and Wampanoag to give thanks for a bountiful harvest after a harsh winter. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared it a national holiday during the Civil War, urging Americans to unite in gratitude and reflect on blessings amidst turmoil. Today, it celebrates family and gratitude.

Thanksgiving / Black Friday 2024 Music Plugins Composers Musicians Songwriters

But, hey, weโ€™re musiciansโ€”we care about synths and plugins. Ah, pluginsโ€ฆ those magical digital toys that make us dream like kids in a candy shop.

So, Iโ€™m thankful to Orchestral Tools because, with their 50% off sale, I can finally grab that downtuned string quartet Iโ€™ve been eyeing for two years. Check out their catalog (excluding new products, which is understandable). You can grab their Berlin series, Ark series, Time Micro/Macro collections, as well as incredible libraries like Tallinn, Salu, Miroire, Vasks (an amazing library), and many more at 50% off.

And Spitfire? I never hopped on the Albion wagon (Iโ€™ve got all the Ark series and didnโ€™t feel the need), but with their The Ton bundle, I can finally have some winter fun with Loegria. They also have other great bundles that can save you a ton of money in the long run, especially their Exclusive Black Friday Bundles. You can save up to 75% with 11 limited-time bundles

And then thereโ€™s VSLโ€”I still canโ€™t believe how realistic their Synchron series sounds. Iโ€™ve already grabbed the Solo Violin, and let me tell you, if youโ€™re planning to write orchestral or neo-classical pieces with a lead violin, this oneโ€™s a must-have (unless, of course, youโ€™re recording it live).

And how about the UJAM bundle at Plugin Boutique? All that stuff (20 plugins) for just $99? Itโ€™s a total no-brainer!

Another company worth mentioning is Audiobro. Their choirs are at their lowest price ever, even beating the secret sale they had a few months ago. I know this because I keep an eye on price trends for every company that catches my attention (yep, Iโ€™m that kind of sophisticated customer, as Dan Lok would say).

8Dio is also selling their entire catalog with some insanely cheap bundles right now. But honestly, Iโ€™m more focused on their new Soundpaint engine these days than their old Kontakt libraries.

Musio for $149? Cheapest price yet! And the entire Cinesamples catalog for that price? If you’re just starting out, youโ€™re wasting time reading my blog instead of grabbing these deals. Just saying.

And then there’s Keepforestโ€”prices are ridiculously low right now. Some deals are already finished, but Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™ll relaunch for that glorified Thanksgiving last-minute sale. Keep an eye out!

IK Multimediaโ€™s Total Studio Bundle 4 for $149? Another great deal! Iโ€™ve spent way more on their stuff in the past, but stay alertโ€”Total Studio Bundle 5 is just around the corner.

Native Instruments? Theyโ€™ve got great deals, no doubt, but Iโ€™m not really following them right nowโ€”I just upgrade my Komplete Edition during their upgrade sales.

Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™m forgetting tons of others, like Sonuscore and Zero-G with their Ethera series, which Iโ€™m sure will be on sale soon. But I just mentioned the ones I think have their prices at the lowest theyโ€™ve been in years for BF2024.

So, here we are. Donโ€™t forget the origins of Thanksgiving, and donโ€™t forget to be thankful for the people around youโ€”whether theyโ€™re family, friends, or fans. Be grateful to your publisher or supervisor if you want those sweet placements next year. And if youโ€™re still reading, let me tell you: youโ€™re a hero. You deserve a glass of fine wineโ€”maybe an Italian one. Cin cin!
